Painting or staining a fence can be very time-consuming if all you have is a brush. That is why you should search for the best paint sprayer for fences.
Paint sprayers are meant to cover a lot of area in a short amount of time. They are also capable of delivering an even coat of paint without much effort from on your end. To put it simply, these are meant to save time and make you look like a professional.
There are many paint sprayers compatible with paint, finish, sealant or whatever you may need to have your fence looking great, getting protected or both. In this review, we will be looking at five paint sprayers from companies such as Wagner, Fuji and HomeRight. We will show you what makes each paint sprayer work well in addition to what makes them not work well.
HomeRight Finish Max C800766
Fuji 2903-T70 Mini-Mite 3 PLATINUM
TACKLIFE Paint Sprayer 800ml/min
FLEXiO 590 Sprayer
Wagner 0518080 Control Spray
The first paint sprayer we will review is from HomeRight. It is meant to be a simple and easy-to-use paint sprayer that stores 27 ounces of paint or finish.
This paint sprayer can use several different substances, like paint, stain and varnish. HomeRight does not require you to use a compressor with this paint sprayer, as it is self-containing.
There are three different spray patterns, round (for irregular surfaces), horizontal fan and vertical fan. You can easily toggle between the three spray patterns.
The paint sprayer distributes a uniform finish that is very smooth and of pro quality. The atomizer inside the Finish Max is behind this phenomenon, as everything is sprayed evenly and no touching up with a brush is required afterwards.
HomeRight includes a two-year warranty, so if you ever get a problem with your paint sprayer in a two-year window, you could be eligible to get a new paint sprayer with no strings attached.
The one this that we do not like about the Finish Max is that is experiences a hiccup in the form of becoming clogged. When the paint sprayer is clogged, it will not entirely spray as intended, and some of it will just drop downward. With this in mind, thin liquids like finishes are most ideal for this paint sprayer. Even if you choose stains or finishes over paints, however, there is still a cause for concern.
Fuji is pretty much the king of paint spray products, as their track record has been proven to be more than stellar with us. For the Mini-Mite 3, there are many different features that you may not be able to find with other paint sprayers in this review.
This model features what is known as a platinum turbine motor. This motor delivers the speed; more specifically, liquid travelling at six PSI (pounds per square inch). Don’t worry about this powerful motor, as there is a heat dissipation box that prolongs the life of the motor and preventing it from overheating.
Paint sprayers are usually very loud and obnoxious. Not the Mini-Mite 3, though. This paint sprayer has a noise reducer that muffles the sound make by the motor, so it does not drive you bonkers use after use.
The non-bleed function of this paint sprayer means that the only substance you are spraying is 100% liquid and 0% air. No drips or messes will be expected. You should also enjoy a long 25-foot hose for mobility and a one-quart cup for adequate volumes of paint. You can also change the size of the spray via the pattern control knob.
Fuji covers this paint sprayers with a 2-year warranty. You can either decide to turn the entire product in, or just have a part replaced, so that you can fix only what is necessary.
This is not an easy paint sprayer to use by any means. This is a more advanced HVLP paint sprayer that takes some time getting used to. With that said, this is not what you will want to buy when you just need to use a paint sprayer just once.
This is a great paint sprayer for the fence, but this is not something that you could use casually. This HVLP sprayer has a steep learning curve, and it is really not worth the money if you just plan to finish or paint your fence one time, and that’s it.
Tacklife provides us with an affordable option for a paint sprayer for fences. The paint cup can hold 900 milliliters of paint, and the lid can flap open for quick refilling without the need to twist off and on. This paint sprayer can spray at 800 milliliters per minute.
The flow control knob allows you to adjust the paint sprayer to one of three spray patterns: Horizontal fan, vertical fan and nummular, which is the round option.
This paint sprayer comes with four different sized nozzles, albeit you need to take them off and on in order to switch to a different size. The smallest is one millimeter and the largest is three millimeters.
All parts of this paint sprayer can be detachable, and cleaning each one is easy. You can easily use water or cleaning solution to clean each part, depending on the type of substance you use.
This paint sprayer comes with a two-year warranty. Within two years, if something were to happen with the paint sprayer, you could be eligible to get it replaced at no cost to you.
Get a pair of headphones, because this paint sprayer is very loud. While all paint sprayers are meant to be loud, due to their inner workings, this one is the loudest of all the sprayers in this review.
Wagner is a popular brand of paint sprayer for their budget-conscious products. The FLEXiO can hold 48 ounces of paint in its paint cup, and can spray 125 square feet in just one go.
The FLEXiO is a versatile paint sprayer that can use many different substances from stains to sealants. This is especially good for when you want to stain or seal your fence, making this a paint sprayer that you do not have to think twice about buying. There is also a finishing nozzle included to help you with finishing a wood application.
This is a small, yet forceful paint sprayer that comes with nine different pressure settings. You can either choose a strong blade of paint or a gentle stream, making you choose between speed, control or a middle ground in a point between.
Believe it or not, but this is a very quiet paint sprayer that performs at about 65 decibels. This is not loud at all, and you can still hear speech from somebody in the same room.
The finish with the FLEXiO is also pretty great, and the paint come on very uniform-like without any blotches here and there.
You can toggle between horizontal spraying and vertical spraying. This allows you to spray without having to turn the paint sprayer at a 45-degree angle.
The problem with this paint sprayer is that it can really hurt your hands when you hold it. The weight is majorly shifted forwards, causing some strain to occur. This is not really a comfortable paint sprayer to handle, and there should be changes made to better support the weight from the paint or finish that you use.
This is the second of two Wagner paint sprayers. This paint sprayer in particular is versatile, in the sense that it comes with two paint cups: a metal one and a plastic one. No matter what kind of paint you use, you can choose the cup that is best compatible.
The air filters in this paint sprayer are decent, ensuring that paint and only paint is what sprays out its nozzle. With this paint sprayer, you should expect to see smooth finishes of paint without any drips down the nozzle of the gun.
Each cup has a 1.5-quart capacity, which is an adequate amount of paint to work with before you need to have your gun refilled. You can alternate between circle, horizontal fan and vertical fan spray patterns.
The two-stage turbine makes either paints or stains very compatible with this gun. As a result, it is very easy to clean this gun as well.
The caveat to using this gun is that it is quite messy. The paint will tend to scatter on some occasions, causing paint particles to land beyond the border of where you intend to paint. This is a very tricky paint sprayer to use for this reason.
When looking for a paint sprayer, you will need to be sure that your desired liquid is compatible with the product that you are looking at. No matter if you are spraying paint, stain or any other liquid, the only way to know that it will work is with an official indication on the packaging or the product description.
You would like a paint sprayer that can switch between horizontal and vertical fanning. For fences, however, horizontal fanning would be the setting to work with. This is the tall, narrow spray pattern that covers a lot of area when you move the paint sprayer side by side.
You would like to be sure that the paint sprayer you choose have minimal mess from many different factors. Does it spray paint within your boundaries? Can it easily be cleaned with water? The less messy your spray paint is, the less time required by you to clean up after it.
A good paint sprayer should spray your liquid in mist-like particles. This ensures that your coats will be evenly distributed. Coats that are too dry can leave blank, unpainted areas on your fence. Coats that are too wet will cause the paint to drip and harden, making for unsightly details on your fence in question.
Usually, the more money you pay for a paint sprayer, the better quality the sprayer is, in addition to the number of features that it comes with. If you are looking to only use this sprayer one time, get an inexpensive sprayer. If you are looking to paint multiple fences or get a sprayer for your job, you will appreciate one that costs even more.
Paint sprayers have varying learning curves; some are easy to use, and some are more complex. Usually, though, all paint sprayers have the same procedure when it comes to setting up and using them.
Firstly, you will want to buy or bring tarp; as much tarp that can be placed underneath your fence. The tarp is supposed to protect your grass or soil, so that it does not receive any of the paint that you are spraying. Painting without tarp outside can be very messy and dangerous.
Next, load your liquid into the paint cup. Load as much as you are able to carry. It is very important to not overflow the paint cup with liquid, as the mess involved could be a problem in more ways than one.
Fasten the loaded paint cup onto the gun, as instructed. You should hear a “snap” or “click” sound, to indicate that the cup is securely fastened.
You should be ready to spray with your paint sprayer now. When it comes to fences, start from the very end (left or right side) of your fence and spray the very top. Be sure that you have the horizontal spray pattern setting selected. Spray diligently to the other side of the fence, and be sure that you do not skip over any areas.
When you get to the other end of the fence, spray below that area, leaving a 50 percent overlap. This is so that you ensure that the coat that you put on is even and lucrative. Repeat this process until you make your way to the bottom.
After every square inch of your fence has been painted, examine the fence’s pickets and make sure that you have not missed any spots. If you notice any blank spots, paint them using a fine paint brush.
Wait for a few hours to allow the coat on your fence to dry, and if necessary, apply another coat of paint for a richer color.
With a paint sprayer, you can easily paint even and uniform coats with minimal mistakes and a lot of time to spare. If you are short on time, or impatient, you will find that a paint sprayer will be much more productive than a paint brush, or even a paint roller.
Paint sprayers can also spray stains, seals and finishes, so there are other purposes that a paint sprayer can serve for your fence other than to give it a change of color. You can use a paint sprayer to give your fence a protective coat of sealant, or even a stain to make it look differently than how it currently looks.
We declare the TACKLIFE Paint Sprayer to be the best paint sprayer for fences. We consider this paint sprayer to be very user-friendly and highly convenient.
At a price that almost anyone can afford, you can buy a paint sprayer that you can count on to do an amazing job with painting or staining a fence. Normally, we often dismiss the least expensive products as the least capable and have the lowest of quality. Tacklife, however does not come with many setbacks to keep it from being something that is worth buying.
Fuji’s paint sprayers are always top-notch, but with the difficult learning curve and the steep price point, this isn’t something that you should only buy if you are counting on it for one time only. That is why Tacklife has the number one paint sprayer for this review.
